The following items must be configured correctly before installing VasPatch.

IIS 7 and Required IIS Modules

1. Install IIS 7 by using Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/web/Downloads/platform.aspx
2. Install IIS web server with following sub-modules:

• ASP.NET
• .NET Extendibility
• ASP
• ISAPI Extensions
• ISAPI Filters

Enabling Windows Features

After installing IIS 7 (or above), a few Windows Features have to be turned on.

Goto Control Panel -> Programs -> Program and Features -> Turn Windows Feature on and off.  A "Windows Feature" panel would be started.

Ensure the following features were checked:

• Internet information Service
• Web Management Tools
• IIS 6 Management Tools
  
• IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility

•  World Wide Web Service
• Application Development Features
  
• ASP .NET

• Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 (or other 3.x version)
• Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation

Click OK to install them.

Installation Steps

By following the steps of the installer, user will be asked to select the website and the application pool for VasPatch Web UI. It is recommended to use the default website name and create a new application pool for VasPatch.

After the installation, two windows services named "VasPatchDataService" and "VasPatchAnalysis" would be installed automatically. Port 8731 is used by the service(s). You can check if the services started by: 

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
3. The services should be available and the status should be started
